Gaming Disorder
Games can be fun and used as effective learning tools. Most games in and of themselves are not bad. However, there is another side to gaming, especially when gaming is not used in moderation. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), excessive use of screens (internet, computers, smartphones, and other devices) has negative health consequences and the WHO now recognizes gaming disorder as an addiction to playing video games per the International Classification of Diseases, 11th Revision (ICD-11).
