History and demographics
Located in northern Indiana and named for the three townships it serves, Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation was formed through consolidation in 1963. We serve more than 11,000 students 11 elementary schools, three middle schools and Penn High School (visit our School Directory page to see the complete list of our schools).
Over the years, Penn-Harris-Madison has built a reputation for excellence in education that is recognized around the state. We have consistently been ranked an “A” rated school district by the Indiana Department of Education and Penn High's graduation rate is above 97%. The District maintains a commitment to high quality academic programs with a strong teaching staff, current technology and excellent facilities. Extracurricular and co-curricular programs consistently rank among the best in the state. The schools provide a safe, nurturing environment that brings out the best in each student and parent support and involvement is enthusiastic.
