The District covers 135 square miles serving approximately 11,100 students in 15 schools: 11 elementary, three middle and one high school.
We are a suburban school district in Northern Indiana, just outside of South Bend. We are about 90 miles from Chicago and 30 miles from the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan. This area of northern Indiana and southern Michigan is affectionately known as “Michiana.” Click to learn more about the South Bend/Mishawaka area.
The area is a “university town” home to five higher education institutions University of Notre Dame, Bethel University, Indiana University South Bend, Saint Mary’s College, and Holy Cross College. The area also has a Ivy Tech Community College location offering more than 50 technical and career programs.

- Morris Performing Arts Center in South Bend is home to the South Bend Symphony and attracts Off-Broadway shows.

- Notre Dame’s DeBartolo Performing Arts Center hosts visiting artists, film festivals, and traveling theatrical productions.
