Become a P-H-M Substitute

Substitute teachers, Educational Assistants (EAs), and Teacher Aides (TAs)  are valuable members of the Penn-Harris-Madison Triangle of Success. 

 

P-H-M has partnered with ESS to manage our substitute program. A leader in K-12 staffing, ESS is now responsible for the hiring, training, and placement of all classroom substitute teachers and all of our aides in the school buildings that require a sub when they are absent.  ESSoffers benefits depending on the position:

  • Minimum Essential Coverage
  • Medical, dental, vision insurance 
  • Life, critical, accident, and disability insurance
  • 401 (k) retirement plan

Substitute teacher compensation:

  • $100 a day for Regular Subs

  • $135 a day for Retired subs

 

Performance Incentives:

  • Work 25-49 days in a semester, receive a $300 bonus check

  • Work 50 or more days in a semester, receive a $600 bonus check

  • Employee of the Month receive $50 and a letter of appreciation

  • Employee of the Year receives $500 and an additional $500 donated to the school of their choice

  • Cash rewards for accepting assignments on hard-to-fill days, in hard-to-fill locations, or for accepting a certain quantity of assignments before a certain date. 

  • Monthly gift card raffle

  • Special appreciation events

  • "Perks at Work" discount and rewards program

 

 

Substitute EA compensation & criteria:

  • $85 a Day
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check with DCS included
  • Participation in the ESS Bonus Program

 

 

Substitute TA compensation & criteria:

  • $14 an Hour

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Pass a Criminal Background Check with DCS included
